Lesley Carmack, MS
Lesley received a Master of Psychology in Adult Counseling at Kansas State University. She is a graduate of the Army “Organizational Effectiveness Center and School” at Fort Ord, California. While living in Seoul, South Korea, she studied Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture at the Sudong Medical Clinic. Other trainings include Bio-Energy Healing and Transpersonal and Integral Psychology approaches.
Her work has been informed by a lifelong study and practice of psychology, counseling, science, and healing, to support mind-body-spirit health, healing, and the evolution of human consciousness. Her clairvoyant, intuitive analysis, and healing intervention have been scientifically documented through research studies.
Through Carmack and Carmack LLC, she and her husband, Jim Carmack, co-created and co-facilitated workshops for the military, small businesses, medical facilities, emergency systems, and more on team building, conflict resolution, stress management, organizational effectiveness, strategic planning, and organizational development. Workshops were geared toward enhancing human system potential and elevating individual empowerment alongside group interdependence. Together, they authored instructional textbooks which have been used throughout military services.
As co-owner of Heart-Mind Communications, a counseling and training company based in California, Lesley developed and facilitated international seminars and consulted with medical practices on mind-body-spirit health within the fields of complementary and integrative medicine. These seminars bridged Eastern and Western approaches that focused on Inner Technologies including meditation, applied spiritual practices, and subtle energy healing orientations.
Lesley was a chairperson of the International Society for the Study of Subtle Energy and Energy Medicine (ISSEEEM) conference in 1999, with keynote speakers such as Stan Groff. She has presented for the IONS Conference, the University of 7 Rays Conference, ISSEEM, and the Federal Government.
Lesley co-authored Radiant Awakening: Humanities Transformational Journey, along with Ruth Eichler, MSW. The book has been described by Jean Houston as, “a Mystery School offering training and inspiration for seekers who prepare themselves to be making a difference in both inner and outer worlds.” Lesley continues to support emergent consciousness as a member of the Elmer E. and Alyce M. Green Foundation.

Jeff Nichols, MD
I grew up in a rural Kansas community, the oldest of two brothers to middle class parents. I graduated as a valedictorian of a high school class of 40. I attended the University of Kansas on a variety of scholarships, graduating with honors and majoring in mathematics, chemistry, and microbiology. I was aiming toward teaching and research in molecular biology, but a dream convincingly directed me away from that path. I studied biochemistry in Germany on a grant and then joined the Peace Corps, teaching microbiology at the University of El Salvador.
Internal guidance directed me to the University of Kansas School of Medicine, where I received my M.D. During that time, I developed an interest in the human potential movement and spent time at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California, learning about myself and alternative forms of healing. I also met and married Josie Norris, M.D., after medial school I completed a year of training in psychiatry and then returned to California for further exploration. Returning to Kansas, I began private practice and working in the Voluntary Controls Program at the Menninger Clinic with Elmer and Alyce Green and others.
I became the medical director and remained there until Menninger began its move to Texas. During that time, Josie and I had six wonderful children, and I have learned more from parenting than any other process in my life. With several other members of the Voluntary Controls Program, I left Menninger to form the Life Sciences Institute of Mind-Body Health in Topeka.
Also, the way I also learned Chinese Medicine and acupuncture, nutrition, and family systems therapy. I also began meditation training with Shinzen Young and have continued to practice and attend periodic retreats. Josie and I separated and divorced and continued to cooperate in raising our children. I moved my practice to Lawrence and broadened it to Complementary Medicine to include the other modalities I had learned. I met and married Jill Mickel and together we have nine children and seven grandchildren.
Elmer requested that I assume the role of financial power of attorney in the years before his death with the specific request that I help him remain at home until his transition and that I help establish a foundation to continue the energy and teaching to which Alyce and he had devoted so much of their lives. In this capacity I worked with Elmer to fulfill those goals. After the initial formation of the Elmer and Alyce Green Foundation, other members of the Board have assumed greater responsibility and done more of the work.
For the last twenty five years, I have lived on nine acres between Lawrence and Topeka, surrounded by greenery and with my wonderful wife, Jill. Since my retirement from medical practice, my interests are music, meditation, gardening, attending to my own aging body, supporting family and friends, and remembering how blessed my life has been and is.

Peter A. Parks, PhD, LCP, BCIA-CN
Dr. Peter Parks earned a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Memphis with a major in Psychology and minor in Fine Arts. He received two (2) Master of Science degrees from Emporia State University with focus in Counseling Psychology and Art Therapy. He was then employed at The Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas under the direct supervision of Elmer Green, Ph.D. Dr. Green, founder of the Council Grove Conference on Consciousness Studies (1969-2024), was Dr. Parks’ mentor, teacher, and professional collaborator. Dr. Green helped Dr. Parks recognized the importance of exploring uncharted waters in an effort to better understand the impact of forces of nature on human physiology and human consciousness.
As researcher, clinician and executive skills coach, Dr. Parks has devoted his professional life to an exploration of naturally occurring rhythms embedded in activities of healthy living. Bridging academic and experiential learning approaches, he embarked on a life-long journey to understand and overcome blocks to creative expression. Learning to embrace paradox, tolerate ambiguity, resist premature closure and develop an “observer perspective,” his passion for understanding the larger challenges facing science and humanity have dominated his thinking in recent years. His current research efforts focus on gravitational field effects as reflected in the domains of electromagnetic fields and human consciousness.
Dr. Parks utilizes psychophysiologic self-awareness training as a tool that offers access to an experientially potent, person-centered, perceptual frame of reference, which promotes mental, emotional, and physiologic flexibility. As a naturalistic observer, he utilizes technological advances to assist in understanding naturally occurring environmental rhythms of nature. With a growing interest in historical perspectives, Dr. Parks has developed an observational strategy which holds promise to increase our understanding of synchronized rhythms of nature and their potential role in answering some of the most elusive questions in the history of modern science
